Saddle up for the event that stops the nation and celebrate Melbourne Cup as the Byford & Districts Country Club’s hugely popular Melbourne Cup luncheon returns Tuesday, 6th November 2018.
“This prompted us to re-assess our offering for the day and really think about catering for our members.
It’s time to dress in your races best and celebrate with friends while the team of brilliant chef’s at the BDCC put on a scrumptious day not to be missed. Byford & Districts Country Club Commercial operations manager, Ray Carey, said that after an excellent luncheon held for the first time in the new club premises in 2017 demand for this year’s event was huge. “We had bookings streaming in before we even had a chance to finalise our menu. Last years 3 course meal option showcased a fantastic gourmet selection of local produce that our members absolutely loved, and this year they were very eager to get in before spots filed up” Mr Carey said.

“This prompted us to re-assess our offering for the day and really think about catering for our members. We love being able to put on first-class events that people really get behind and support and thats our reasoning behind the addition of our Cocktails & Canapes option” he said.
The 3 Course Dining option filled up very quickly and is now completely booked out, with a large number of members asking to be put on a stand-by list. “This prompted us to re-assess our offering for the day and really think about catering for our members. We love being able to put on first-class events that people really get behind and support and thats our reasoning behind the addition of our Cocktails & Canapes option” he said.
This year the Club will offer two styled options for the Melbourne Cup. The Club will close for part of the day for general access as the entire club is transformed into a show stopping Melbourne Cup destination in Byford.

The popular Byford restaurant location will host the traditional 3 course luncheon, whilst the bar will be transformed. “We’ll be emptying out the Sports Bar, bringing in our decorating contractors and transforming that room in to a location fitting of our Cocktail and Canape’s option. Both Melbourne Cup options will intertwine throughout the day as this year we introduce a few new novelties to the festivities”
The BDCC will host a range of novelty races and events where members can slip of the shoes, and jump on a toy horse, on the 20 metre racecourse set up in the beer garden for a bit of fun. There’s a range of cash and prizes to be won on the day.
The Clubs Cocktails & Canapes option includes a 2 hour drinks package inclusive of a range of beer, wine, spirits & cocktails. Tickets are selling fast to this event.
In addition, attendees will once again enjoy the Clubs Fashions on the Green, with prizes for Best Dressed & Best Hat and take part in Sweep Stakes, Raffles & More on the Day.
