As upper lips begin to twitch in anticipation of the approaching hairy season and people across the country ready themselves for the onslaught of Movember moustaches, the Byford & Districts Country Club Inc is ready to Mo.
The Movember Foundation’s mission to change the face of men’s health aligns perfectly with the BDCCs vision of improving the lives of its members and the local community with the club in a unique position to help highlight and educate men’s health issues to the wider community.
IN AUSTRALIA, 1 IN 8 MEN WILL BE DIAGNOSED WITH PROSTATE CANCER BEFORE THE AGE OF 75
During the month of Movember, the Club is challenging its members and the local community to get involved as Mo Bros or Mo Sistas – encouraging men to grow, and women to support, a moustache this Movember.
Men can get involved by growing any style of moustache they see fit over the 30 days of the month.
The BDCC’s chief executive, Mark O’Neill, said the challenge was a great opportunity for men and women in the community to get involved at a community level and make a difference to the health of men across the country.
“We are very proud to be taking part in Movember to help drive awareness for such important national men’s health issues. We look forward to participating with our Members to work towards achieving some fantastic Mo’s and excellent fundraising results to help change the face of men’s health this Movember” Mr O’Neill said
“
“AS A CLUB AND A COMMUNITY WE CAN’T AFFORD TO REMAIN SILENT AND LET THIS CONTINUE, OUR FATHERS, PARTNERS, BROTHERS, SONS, UNCLES, NEPHEWS AND FRIENDS FACE A HEALTH CRISIS”
“It’s going to be a great month of Mos. It’s all for a good cause of course and it’ll be fun seeing what grows above the lips of our members through out Movember. I have no doubt our male staff will get behind the initiative and rock some of the worst Mo’s seen” Mr O’Neill added.
The aim of this facial furniture growth is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer and mens mental health.
Club President John Erren said “As a club and a community we can’t afford to remain silent and let this continue. Our fathers, partners, brothers, sons, uncles, nephews and friends face a health crisis that isn’t being talked about. Men in our community and in our country are dying far too young. We can’t afford to stay silent on this any longer, so as a club we’re taking action to play our part”
“We’ll host a number of functions throughout Movember at the Club starting from the 1st November, culminating in a Golf day to raise additional funds and an end of Movember celebration” Mr Erren said.
“I really encourage all of our Club Members, Staff, Friends, Family and community to get behind this cause and help make a difference” he added.
