As far as strange coincidences go, this ones definitely right up there.
But for long-time member, Megan Caruana (Member 4065) it’s a coincidence that left her in tears of joy and shock.
It’s a coincidence that was almost a year in the making. It starts at December 22nd 2017 with just 2 cards left on the Board. Just after 7pm that evening, a second ticket is drawn it’s a Black ticket. A-57 to be exact. Leigh Jones, also a long-time member makes his way to the front. It’s a 50/50 choice. As his selected card is turned, Card number 34, the crowd erupts. His done it, his pulled the Ace of Spades. The Full $5,300 Jackpot is all his.

Fast-forward 316 days. It’s Friday, 2nd November 2018. After starting this years Chase the Ace series at $2,000, 13 Cards still remain on the Board.
The Jackpot is once again at $5,300 and the members have flocked in this evening. As 7pm ticks over, our resident Friday night MC, Club President John Erren (he’ll be reading this so we’ll say, ‘with his voice of an angel’) gives the okay for the clubs new big win prize booth to be fired up. Within seconds a ticket is yanked from the air.
As Members and guests throughout the Club scramble to check the tickets laid out in front of them, its not long before Megan Caruana comes forward with her winning ticket. Half the jobs done. Now it’s down to 13 Cards and luck. Behind one of those cards lies the Jackpot. Card number 36 Megan asks for. The crowd goes silent. The card is slowly revealed… IT’S THE ACE OF SPADES!! Megan has just won the Jackpot, and that’s where the coincidence lies. The 2nd Chase the Ace Jackpot won at the new Club is once again $5,300. 2 from 2 so far.

Speaking after her win, an emotional Megan said it was perfect timing. “I lost my job just 3 weeks ago, so this really couldn’t have come at a better time”. Megan moved from South Australia 10 Years ago and became a member at the old Club. “We’ve made a lot of family friends over the years from attending Friday nights at the Club” she said. Congratulations to Megan, partner Brendon and their two children Madison &Taresa on the incredible win.
